Qualifications

Pat Vallerand brings an extensive and varied background to her work, having engaged in the private practice of law for 17 years with an emphasis on trial work involving family, custody, juvenile, probate, employment, civil rights and consumer cases.

She has served as a part time Pro Tempore Judge with the Lane County Circuit courts. She currently serves as an Arbitrator for the Lane County Circuit Courts and a Mediator and Impartial Hearing Officer for the State of Oregon Department of Human Services, Vocational Rehabilitation Division.

She also is licensed to perform weddings and commitment ceremonies in Oregon.

She is a member of the Oregon State Bar and Lane County Bar Alternative Dispute Resolution sections and the Oregon Mediation Association.

Pat Vallerand began her mediation and arbitration work while still engaged in the private practice of law. She left law practice in 1996, obtained additional extensive conflict resolution training and has limited her work exclusively to this area since 1998. She has handled a large number of private cases, and has served as a volunteer for Lane County Small Claims Court and Community Mediation Services since 1999, including serving on CMS’s Board of Directors.

Having received training in various mediation styles, Pat is able to provide a process and approach that best serves individual client needs, from facilitative/transformational to investigative/evaluative analysis.
